Rogue One’s Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen) by Hot Toys - In 1/6 & Cosbaby

Today we are thrilled to present the 1/6th scale collectible figure of Chirrut Îmwe! Specially crafted based on the character's appearance in the movie, the extremely life-like collectible figure features a newly developed head sculpt, a meticulously tailored costume, detailed weapons and accessories including a staff and a crossbow, and a specially designed figure stand."

HOT TOYS PRESS CONTINUED: "One Furthermore, in celebration of the famed Hong Kong actor and martial artist Donnie Yen-甄子丹 Official starring as the spiritual warrior Chirrut, Hot Toys is excited to present a special Deluxe version of the 1/6th scale Chirrut Îmwe only available in selected markets. This Deluxe Version will exclusively feature a diorama figure base with a Stormtrooper helmet and a special package design inspired by traditional Asian art!"

Hot Toys has further enhanced the allure of the figure by producing a stop-motion short, featuring the 1/6th-scaled Chirrut Îmwe battling Stormtroopers! The short featured above apparently took over a month to create and incorporated more than 2,600 still pictures in addition to some CG enhancements.



Not content with just a 1/6th, as well Hot Toys has announced the “Chirrut & Baze Cosbaby Bobble-Head” set (view write-up and video HERE) - where there are two versions to be had - Chirrut holding his staff is sold individually, while Chirrut-with-crossbow (and with slightly different facial expression) is only available in the boxed set, alongside Baze!

Truthfully, when I first saw Donnie Yen in the role, as it was announced, the “fear” was that it would be a “token” role - for a multi-racial collection of characters for the film … but as I watched the final theatrical version, I begun to appreciate the character and nuances (especially in the moment he does not speak, but react to what he hears) ... SPOILER AHEAD! ... and felt a little break in my heart, whenever I heard his mantra/chant: "I am one with the Force. The Force is with me." now...


Seen here are two more additional images of Donnie Yen himself, at the Asian promotion tour, standing alongside a 1:1 life-sized statue of Chirrut Îmwe on stage during the press junket, and as well with his toys from Hot Toys. Alas no money shot of him HOLDING the products tho LOL

FYI: The 1:1 statue is now being displayed publicly at the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story mall event held at MOKO, Hong Kong until January 1, 2017. There is also a pop-up store with it, to score your Rogue One x Hot Toys goodies! LOL
