“Born to Rebel” - Full Metal Jacket vs Rogue One by Orlando Arocena
Truth be told, I was struggling to come up with something “clever” or perhaps even lyrical to describe these images, but in the end, I’ve decided to just say it straight - THESE BE LOOKING FANTASTICALLY AWESOME!
Orlando Arocena has taken Stanely Kubrick’s classic Vietnam war movie “Full Metal Jacket” poster aesthetic and applied it to the Star Wars / Rogue One spirit, with the result being two print images titled “Born to Rebel – Camo” and “Born to Rebel – Squadron”, and offer them up as 24″ X 36″ sized prints, each priced at US$55.00, each design in an edition of 75.
Hand signed and numbered by Orlando, these hotness ships internationally … times like these I wish I had online $$$ to spend OMGOMGOMG!!!!!
"Back in 2015, upon hearing the news about a potential Star Wars Rogue One story being developed, and directed by Gareth Edwards . I was very happy to read how the story would be more set within a military covert ops thematic. Taking that into account I quickly put together these two vector illustrations to pay tribute. But a year later and few trailers viewed. I'm back to pay tribute with a parody.
I decided to pay reverence to a favorite wartime movie - Stanely Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket - and the artist who created the iconic artwork - Mr. Philip Castle by visually combining the intensity and fighting spirit of the Rebellion in a vector tribute." - shared Orlando Arocena (Artwork process on his Behance)
… then, then there is the METALLIC FOIL Version! In an edition size of 15 each design, these are Giclée printed on Metallic Archival PolyFoil with Epson Ultra Chrome K3 inks (images posted below), with each priced at US$75.00. Each print will have the artist's signature on lower right border with edition number.
